*TV or monitor with a video port

*PS/2 compatible keyboard

*A 5V power source with a micro USB port

When it comes to the word “programming,” many people imagine a complicated, computer-driven world. However, with this palm-sized circuit board alone, users can experience the fundamental of BASIC programming language. If you can make your own games and robots, doesn’t that change your image of programming.

After connecting the device to a commercial keyboard and TV and flipping the switch, it immediately starts up. Configuration is simple.

Input these four characters, “LED1,” and.

.

The circuit board LED lights up! Not too fancy, but it feels good to have something move at your command.

Input “LED0” and the lamp goes out. “WAIT 60” makes the device do nothing for 60 frames (1 second). Repeat “LED1: WAIT 60: LED0: WAIT60” over and over to make the LED flash at 1 second intervals!

“This flashing LED is the fundamental of a program — it is everything,” .It seems that all games are made using on-off switching and wait intervals.

He clears the screen, decides on the locations of enemies and displays them. Pressing the right button increases the coordinates (location) by one, moving the character to the right. Pressing the left button reduces the coordinates by one and moves the character left. After a short interval, if the location of the enemy and the player are the same (if they collide), the time is displayed and the program ends. If they do not collide, the game restarts from the “select the enemy location” screen. It is such a simple program, but…

We’ve completed a game where enemy marks (asterisks) close in at random from the top of the screen, and a human player moves left and right to try and avoid them! But the enemies closed in so fast that we had an immediate game over!
Adjust for this by increasing the WAIT count, and the enemies come slower. In other words, the “interval” setting is also the setting for “game difficulty.”

“By understanding the player and enemy display (on-off switching) and difficulty settings (intervals) through the games they make, children can immediately grasp the basics of programming,” .

In summary

Please connect a video cable to TV, attach a keyboard cable, and a microUSB cable as a power source.

Then, move the slide switch(SW1) on IchigoJam to the left.Did you get the very first message from your computer?

Easy way is just typing many games and fun.

Try to change numbers and enjoy hacking games.
